William McMaster Obituary

William (Bill) A. McMaster September 29, 1929, to November 18, 2020

Bill was born in Torrance, California on September 29th, 1929 to William and Ada (Barber) McMaster and passed away on November 18th, 2020 in Lakeview, Oregon at the age of 91.

Bill grew up in South Gate, California with his sister Barbara, and brothers Ernie and Bob. He graduated from South Gate High School in 1948 where he excelled in track and cross county running.  After high school, he became a machinist working in the Los Angeles area where he became a partner in a centerless grinding business. He married Alberta Meacham in 1952. Bill and Alberta had five children: Susan, Billy, Mike, David, and Danny. In 1972, they purchased the Davis Creek Store and moved their family to Davis Creek, CA. This is where he started his career in the logging industry up until his retirement in 1991. After Alberta passed away in 1990, Bill remarried Ramona Pochop in 1993, who he spent the rest of his life with.

Bill loved to fish, hunt, and take extended backpacking trips with his family in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. He enjoyed traveling to Alaska and Canada for fishing, hunting, and sightseeing. He treasured spending time outdoors with his family and friends, especially fishing all the local reservoirs. Bill loved visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known for his storytelling and his stories will never be forgotten.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Ada, brother Ernie, wife Alberta, sons Billy and Danny, son-in-law Don Waterman, stepson Marvin Pochop, infant grandsons Donald and Douglas Waterman, and Matthew McMaster.

He is survived by his wife Ramona, daughter Susan Waterman, son Mike and wife Richann McMaster, son David and wife Sharon McMaster, stepdaughter Jeanette Hoskins, stepson Philip and wife Jacque Pochop, stepdaughter-in law Chris Pochop, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

At this time the family is planning a celebration of life in early summer. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to Davis Creek Community Hall, P.O. Box 28, Davis Creek Ca, 96108, or any charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to Ramona McMaster 47210 Hwy 395, Davis Creek, CA 96108
