Virginia Lee (Bartholomew) Vernon

Virginia Bartholomew Vernon, 90 passed away March 23, 2022, at her home in Lakeview, Oregon.

She was born on July 24, 1931, to Jay and Lela (Brewer) Bartholomew, in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

The family were Iowa farmers, and they moved to Oregon during the depression and the dust bowl days of the 1930’s.  They farmed in Brooks, Oregon, and then moved to a cattle ranch outside Sandy, Oregon.

Virginia graduated from Sandy High School and attended Oregon State College in Corvallis, Oregon.  Virginia married Thomas B. Vernon in 1954, moving to the family ranch in Lakeview, Oregon.  They raised three children and she was involved in numerous community activities, such as The Lake County Fair, Cowbells, Warner Canyon Ski Area to name a few.  She was elected and served on the Lake County School District #7 board for 20 years.

Virginia then started a new career as a Real Estate agent, purchasing and becoming Principal Broker at High Country Real Estate for almost 40 years.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, daughter; Becky (Don) Keeling, brothers; Roger Bartholomew and Dean Bartholomew.

Virginia is survived by sons; Jack (Debra) Vernon of Lakeview, OR and Thomas (Brandy) Vernon of Veneta, OR, grandchildren Ashley (Mark) Louie of Lakeview, OR, Kent (Alana) Vernon of Sisters, OR, Three great-grandchildren; Dominic and Luke Louie and Emmett Vernon, several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, April 4, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Presbyterian Church in Lakeview, Oregon with a coffee & dessert reception to follow.
