On the morning of December 17th, 2020, Theodore E DeWitt passed away in his home. He was 95 years old. Theodore was born February 6th, 1925 on the family ranch at the foot of Cedar Pass. He was one of 18 brothers and sisters. Eddie is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years BJ DeWitt, daughter Elisabeth DeWitt, son & daughter-in-law Pat & Bubbles DeWitt, Daughter-in-law Tricia DeWitt, and sister Fey Kellner. He has 8 grandkids and 15 great-grandkids. Eddie was preceded in death by 2 sons, Eddie Dewitt and Mike DeWitt. He was an Army Veteran as an MP (explains a few personality traits eh?)
As a young man, Eddie did a lot of ranching, day work, and such in the Surprise Valley area. He came to Lakeview in his 20’s went to work for Lakeview Lumber Products where he worked for over 40 yrs until retiring. Eddie was a quiet man who loved hunting and fishing with family and friends. But as anyone who knew him knows, his favorite hobby was cutting firewood. If there was less than 5 years of wood in the shed, he was running low and always needed to get more. Until his final weeks, he was still bringing the firewood in from the shed, which is the wood he split and stacked himself last summer. And even in his final weeks, he was still looking for a way to get more. One of his greatest passions was working with his wife BJ in their yard and garden.
Eddie will be laid to rest at the Westside Cemetery. There be a graveside service at a later date. Notices will go out with the information prior to the service.
Eddie’s family would like to thank all of the people that have been such an important part of his life. I will not even try to name them all as there are so many of you. We thank everyone who has been there with care, comfort, and support. It is with our most heartfelt thanks and gratitude to each and every one of you for being there for us then and now. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
