Roy F. Palmer, of Lakeview, Oregon passed away on April 2, 2022, in Bend, Oregon, with complications from a major heart attack. He will be dearly missed by Donna, Don, Cody, Eli, and a great many friends. Anyone saddened by his passing may find comfort in one of his favorite sayings “It will feel better when it stops hurting.”
Roy was born to Robert and Helen (Severns) Palmer on August 16, 1948, in Stockton, California.
Roy and his wife Donna raised their two sons Don and Cody Palmer at various ranches in Northern California. Enjoying a beautiful life with many friends and family. Always happy to teach the boys and later grandson Eli about ranch life and everything that goes along with it.
Among Roy’s favorite times was the yearly family hunting trip in the Tahoe backcountry. Packing in on horseback and staying for a week. Even being miles from any type of road, steak and lobster was still the traditional dinner the first night at camp.
Roy took pride in his job, from managing ranches to being in the auto auctions from California to Vegas until retirement. Roy and Donna relocated to Lakeview Oregon to be closer to their son Cody. Roy spent many days at the ranch or tagging along to a branding. He liked our small town and was a member of the Elks & Eagles Lodges where he could be found most evenings with good friends and good whiskey telling good stories.
Memorial contributions can be made in Roy’s memory to the Youth Mentor Program, 357 North L Street, Lakeview, OR 97630, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Desert Rose Funeral Chapel is overseeing the arrangements. Condolences may be expressed, or the guest book signed online at www.desertrosefuneralchapel.com
