Roy Baldwin Obituary

Roy Ray Baldwin went home to be with Our Lord on August 30th, 2022 at the age of 74.

Roy was born on March 15th, 1948, to Denver R. Baldwin and Eliza Virginia Thacker at home in Blackwood Wise County Virginia. He was the 2nd oldest of 10 children.

Roy moved to Oregon from L.A. in 1972 and went to work for Weyerhauser and worked there for several years, then it sold to Collins Products LLC. and he continued working there until he retired. He was a Former operator, drove the front end loader, and worked in the lab, along with several other jobs.

Roy loved spending time with his family and friends spending much time with them. If there was a get-together and he was able to make it, he was always there, especially during the holidays. He had a big heart and was so very helpful in many ways. He was fun to be around and had a feisty attitude. You had to be careful sitting beside him during a meal as he loved stealing from others’ plates. Especially the grandkids and Great grandkids. He didn’t discriminate!

He served in Vietnam and was a Marine. He was an avid bow hunter and loved nature and going out scouting and hunting for deer and Elk with his best friends. He also liked going fishing and camping. He was a wonderful mechanic and loved working on cars and building engines as well. At one point he was restoring a 37 Ford pickup! He loved listening to “Oldies” music and was a diehard Raiders Fan!

He is survived by his Wife Dorothy Baldwin, Daughters, Nancy Baldwin Burk (Ronnie), & Stacie Baldwin-Driscoll (Husband James Jr). Stepchildren, Alana Duncan-Rose (Husband Stephen), Lisa Alexander (Husband Nick), Robert Duncan (Wife Kasey) Siblings, Barbara Darnell, Sandra Brown, Mary V. Smith, Gracie Love, and Russell Preter (Wife Susan).   numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

He was Preceded in death by his Mother, Eliza Virginia Thacker, Father Denver R. Baldwin/ Charles Preter, Older sister Betty Rush, Brother Lonnie Baldwin, Brother Charles Preter, Grand Daughter Larisa Demorest/Bailey, and his stepdaughter Kristi Duncan.

He will be honored with a full Military Service and a memorial service afterward. There will be a “Potluck” following the services on September 16th at 12:00 P.M. at Baptist Church on Homedale at 3052 Homedale Rd.
