Richard “Dick” Larry Maxwell, 77, passed away peacefully in Lakeview, Oregon on Thursday, October 7, 2021.
Dick was born January 25, 1944, in Aberdeen, Washington, to Donald and Gwen (Markley) Maxwell.
Dick grew up in Lakeview and graduated from Lakeview High school with the class of 1962. After high school, he worked at the Lakeview Lumber Yard and attended OIT in Klamath Falls, until he was drafted into the Army. After he got out of the Army, he came back to Lakeview to work with his dad in the freight business. Dick like the freight company and worked in several locations throughout Oregon. He married Marlene (Havel) Baptista and from that marriage, 2 boys were born. Their oldest son, Mark was born in Klamath Falls, and then the family moved to Burns. After moving from Burns to Redmond their second son, Scott was born, and they raised their family in Redmond. Dick lived in Redmond until his retirement when he decided to move back to Lakeview, to live out the rest of his days in the same house he was raised in.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle and ATV, snowmobiling and he loved driving around in his 1956 Thunderbird convertible with his longtime girlfriend Joyce Mobley. He was also a member of the snowmobile club.
Dick was a wonderful Dad, Grandpa, and friend. He had quite the sense of humor. He was loved by his family very much and was always happy. He was very proud of his sons and granddaughter. He will be forever missed. Dick will be missed by many and forgotten by none.
Dick is survived by his two sons: Mark Maxwell of Redmond, OR and Scott (Lesa) Maxwell of Terrebonne, OR, and a granddaughter Hannah Maxwell of Redding, CA.
A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
