Patricia Mae (Mackey) Patten Springer, 78, went to be with the Lord, peacefully at her Lakeview home on Monday, June 15, 2020.
Pat was born to Glen and Marjorie (Kuykendall) Mackey on October 4, 1941, in Montebello, California. Pat grew up in Los Angeles County (Burbank) where she enjoyed the beach and the sunny weather. She graduated from Burbank high school and went on to college for a couple of years at Arizona Western College. In 1992 while traveling from Yellowstone she passed through Lakeview and the Lord said, “Pat you’re finally home”, so she moved here and has lived in Lakeview until her passing.
Pat went to work at the Indian Village, she had been a bartender and waitress for 30 years. In 1994 she began working at the Lakeview Hospital as a CNA in long term care and hospice. After 6 years she began picking up private home care jobs. Pat had one of those nurturing souls.
In 2007, Pat married Lyle Springer. They loved to travel and do arts & crafts until his passing in 2013. Pat was very involved in her sobriety as she became sober in 1991. She even helped get the AA started in the prison when it came to town. Pat liked to stay active and did so in many ways, she put her love of swimming to use by teaching swimming and was also the water aerobics instructor. She loved gardening, photography, riding her bicycle, and cooking. She was a part of the hospital auxiliary and led the nursing home bingo. I guess you could say that pat was a true volunteer, always willing to help out where needed. Pat may have been known most for her dedication to the church and her Lord. She was a regular attendee at churches and bible studies in Lakeview. She wanted to know the word of the Lord and did her best to live by it.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents Glen & Marjorie, brother; Richard Mackey, sister; Glenda Gram, husband; Lyle Springer.
She was survived by her Daughters; Debbie Shelton of LaPine, OR, Linda Vivian of Sacramento, CA, grandchildren; Justine Shelton, Kerryn Lundquist, Kaila Vivian, and Gregory Simon, great-grandchildren Tucker Simon, Remington Strohkirch, Lily Dial and Isabella Lundquist; a niece; Ashley Gram and her beloved sister in law & brother in law Judy & John Springer.
There will be a celebration of life on July 10, 2020, at 11:00 am at The Gathering Place followed by a potluck.
Contributions in Pat’s memory can be made to the Lake County Food Share, P.O. Box 1330, Lakeview, OR 97630, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
