Obituary

Marshall William Carter passed away peacefully at his home in Lakeview, Oregon on April 28, 2023.

He was born in Amarillo, Texas on July 31, 1951, to Olan and Lucy (Pelts) Carter.  He grew up in Fort Collins, CO, and Cheyenne, WY.  He graduated in California from Red Bluff High School in 1969.  After graduating he enlisted in the Navy and served our Country honorably until his discharge on October 19, 1972.

Marshall settled in Hawaii and married Barbara Riveira on December 28, 1974. Marshall worked as a tile setter until he retired. He and Barbara moved to Lakeview in December of 2019.

Marshall loved fishing and going to beaches in Hawaii and Oregon, he loved spending time with his 9 grandchildren and his wife. Marshall enjoyed classic cars and loved to work on his ‘64 Impala and his ’58 Belair.

Marshall is preceded in death by his parents, Olan Carter and Lucy Apodaca, along with Frances Hutton.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara, and his 5 children; Leslie Carter of Lakeview, Oregon, Sean Carter of Newberg, Oregon, Jamen Carter of Marysville, California, Lynn Carter of Lakeview, Oregon, Christian Carter of Lakeview, Oregon, his 7 grandchildren, 3 brothers; Ray Campbell, Steven Sybert, and Dennis Apodaca, and his 3 sisters; Patsy Sanchez, Millie Perrone, and Kathy Williamson.

A Family gathering will be held in Marshall’s honor at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made in Marshall’s memory to the VFW Post 4070, PO Box 134, Lakeview, OR 97630, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
