Marjorie Foster Obituary

Marjorie Louise Olson Foster passed away peacefully and gently into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 1, 2023.  She was born March 9, 1929, in Spokane Washington to Chester Garnerd Olson and Olive Blanch Peters.  The family lived in Wenatchee, Washington.  Chester brought his three children, Juanita, Marjorie, and Donnie to Lakeview in 1937 after losing his wife and two younger sons.

The family settled on the Westside in a house Chester built on Padget Lane.  The family enjoyed their life in the country, riding their horses to school and raising bummer lambs the sheepherders would give them.  Their collie dog, Lady was always by their side.  There was no electricity until after the war.  Life was simple but good with many fond memories.

She loved to dance and even won a dance contest in Klamath Falls as a teen.  The summer she and her sister worked for the Spaldings at their ranch in Guano Valley remained a highlight of her youth.

Marjorie met Truman Wesley Foster in 1946 when Truman was visiting relatives while on leave from the Navy and they were married December 2, 1947.  Their son, Lonnie was born in 1948, and their daughter Bonnie arrived in 1954.  Marjorie loved being a homemaker and keeping a spotless home.  She enjoyed working in the yard and garden, was an excellent seamstress, and kept busy quilting, crocheting, embroidery, and crafting.  She was always busy and was a hard worker.

Marjorie truly loved the many pets she had throughout her life.  She was always excited about Roundup.  She had a deep fondness for growing up in Lakeview and getting to spend the rest of her life here was very important to her.  Marjorie was still walking to town in her early 90s with very little eyesight.  Her long life allowed her to meet her great-great-grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Truman (2002), sister Juanita, and brothers Donnie. Larry and baby boy Olson.

She is survived by a son, Lonnie (Kathy) of Shady Cove, daughter Bonnie (Mark) Sherbourne of McCall, ID, three grandchildren, Lani, Scott, and Ryan, great-grandchildren, Kayla, Brandon, Scott, and Christian, great-great grandchildren,  Wesley and Taytum, nephews Monte (Linda) Murphy, David (Judy) Murphy, niece Monica (Ed) Tubberville, special caregiver Melissa Smith and many kind friends who helped her through the years.

Marjorie took a final drive through Lakeview before private family committal at Sunset Park Cemetery on January 5, 2023, with Pastor Eric Sarensen officiating.  A celebration of life is planned for Summer 2023 at Cottonwood Lake where she loved to fish.
