Margaret Theall Obituary

Margaret (Knutzen) Theall, 94, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022.

Margaret was born on Oct. 21, 1927, to Frank and Margaret (Sorensen) Knutzen in Oakland, Calif.

Shortly after she was born, her family moved to Applegate. She attended Applegate School through the 6th grade and remembered walking three miles a day to get there. When she was a teen, her family moved back to Oakland, where her father attended Osteopathic School. When he finished school they moved the family to Tracy, Calif. Margaret graduated from Tracy Union High School and went into business school in Stockton, Calif. She then got a job with San Joaquin Hay Growers Association as a bookkeeper. While attending Tracy High she met Richard (Dick) Theall's five sisters. They convinced her to write to him while he was enlisted in the Marines. They fell in love and were married when he came home in 1947. They continued their life in Tracy growing row crops until they moved to Gardnerville, Nev. in 1952. Margaret worked as a bookkeeper while Dick worked as the foreman for Minden Cooperative Creamery. They met their best friends, Ralph and Edna Plimpton, who lived in Lake Tahoe. Due to winter storms and closed roads, they moved in the Plimpton's son, Allen, so he could attend high school down in Minden. In the early 1960's, they followed Ralph and Edna to Lakeview, where Dick worked on their ranch and Margaret worked as a bookkeeper. In 1981 she started working at Favell-Utley where she worked for over 30 years before retiring.

Margaret loved the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, arrowhead hunting, gardening, and camping. Several of her favorite trips with family and friends were to Drews, Deadhorse Lake, Big Springs Reservoir, and many others in Nevada.

Her favorite pastime was gardening in her beautiful garden, and she loved to share it with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

Margaret is survived by: her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Dorothy Theall; daughter and son-in-law, Julie (Theall) and Rich Ladd; her grandchildren, Shannon Theall and wife Amy, Shane Theall and wife Kimberly, Marissa (Theall) Russell and husband Chris, Edie Dunkelberg and husband Jayson; and 10 great-grandchildren as well as many other friends and family.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life, which will be held in Lakeview at the Westside Grange on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 2 p.m.
