Linda Nelson Obituary

Linda DuBose Nelson, 78, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Lake District Hospital.  She was surrounded by the love of her family.

Linda was born in Lakeview on January 17, 1943, to Dave and Lillian (Brekke) DuBose. She was the second of four children.   She was delivered by Dr. Wilbur, as were all of her siblings.

Linda graduated with Honors from Lakeview High School in June of 1961.  She was awarded the Bernard Daly Fund Scholarship and headed to the University of Oregon Nursing School.

Linda married in 1963 and had three beautiful children who were the center of her world.  She loved working with the public and whatever job she had; customer service was her predominant role.

Linda worked in customer service for Pacific Power & Light in Lakeview for several years and after the family moved to Colville, Washington she worked at Washington Water & Power also in customer service.  When Linda moved to San Francisco, CA to be near her sister, she worked in the Consumer Services Dept. of Levi Strauss & Co.  Then back to Lakeview to work In Town Hall where she met almost everyone in Lakeview all over again.   After retiring from Town Hall she missed the public and began an Avon business.  She loved people!

Linda’s friends and customers in all of her travels remember her as a “special lady” who loved wholeheartedly and gave so much to so many.  Anyone that knew her talks about her beautiful smile and her genuine interest when she asked you how you were doing.

Linda was an artist at heart and saw everything beautiful in nature as a subject for painting.  She was a member of High Desert China Painters for many years and very much enjoyed the comradery during their painting sessions.  She deeply loved music, dancing, reading, her flowers, and most of all her family.

Through all of this, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her nieces and nephews and their children remained her center and balance in her life.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Lillian DuBose; her brother David DuBose; her daughter-in-law Ronda Jordan “Nelson” and her great-nephew Nathan DuBose.  She is survived by her sons Greg and Christopher Nelson and Chris’ wife Marianne; daughter Jama Nelson; grandchildren Ryan Burkhart, Zach Bureau, and Terren Nelson; great-grandchildren Oakley Starr and Cassidy Amelia Burkhart; her sisters Joanne MacGregor and Carol DuBose; and her many nieces, nephews and their children.
