LaDona (Newman) Coffey

LaDona Coffey, age 88, passed away after complications with pneumonia in Lake District Hospital on August 4, 2021.  A graveside service was conducted on August 15, 2021, at Westside Cemetery with her immediate family present, and was officiated by a long-time family friend, Wayne Breshears.

LaDona was born in Vernonia, Oregon on May 20, 1933, to John and Ruby Newman.  Her parents moved to New Pine Creek when she was very young.  They moved the family to Lakeview around 1947.  They were long-time residents of the Westside. 

LaDona enjoyed her family and had many family get-togethers, which included lots of good food and most usually ended with a good game of pinochle. She loved to play with anyone willing to sit down at the table. She also belonged to several pinochle clubs over the years, both in Lakeview and in Portland where she lived from 1964 to 1985, at which time she moved back to Lakeview to care for her disabled young grandson.  She cared for him for about 20 years. She was an avid bowler for many years and won several team championship tournaments. LaDona stayed busy in the fall canning seasonal fruits and vegetables.  Her family loved her wild plum jam and green tomato relish. 

LaDona was preceded in death by her husband, William Coffey, her parents John and Ruby Newman, her brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Leola Newman, her grandson Brandon Allard, her daughters Carrie Roys and Michelle Hanson.

She is survived by her oldest daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Steve Munson of Gladstone, Oregon, and her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Arla Newman of Klamath Falls, Oregon.  She has seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
