L. June Cormie Obituary

Lillian “June” Cormie, 93, a long-time resident of Paisley, passed away peacefully on February 16th, 2024, with family present. Born in Lakeview on June 13th, 1930, June was known for her love of horses.

June was born and raised in Lakeview, OR. She enjoyed being on the Lake County rodeo court in 1946. June and Vic were happily married on October 3rd, 1946, in Lakeview OR. In their early years they worked on various ranches throughout Lake County. She enjoyed working the cattle side by side with her husband. They had a ranch in Crooked Creek for 15 years and then moved to a ranch in Paisley, OR, on Clover Flat Road, in 1969, where they ranched for 10 years. After that June worked for the Forest Service. She loved working with horses and was always willing to help anyone brand calves. She was still branding calves well into her 80’s! She rode in the Lake County Round Up Centennial parade when she was 89. In her free time, June enjoyed planting flowers, cooking wonderful meals, and fishing and hunting. She was always ready for a game of Pinochle, and many other games – where she would usually win. She also donated her time as an EMT for the local Emergency Services and was always lending a hand in the community.

She is preceded in death by her father, George Keith Honnold; mother, Winnifred Koontz Honnold; husband Victor Cormie; daughter Glenda Cormie; and her beloved dog Taz.

She is survived by her son, Gene Cormie of Paisley; daughter Sherry Muse of Paisley; grandchildren, Brandi Crane (Will Darby) of Angels Camp, CA, Dawn (Mark Sterner) of Aptos, CA, and Samantha Crane of Laguna Niguel CA; and great grandchildren, Ava Darby, Fox Darby, and Xena Sterner, and her nephew Larry (Keri) Vance.

In closing, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the love, support, and memories shared during this time of loss. June was a beacon of love and strength, and your presence and kind words have provided comfort and solace to our family. She will forever remain in our hearts, and your compassion has been a source of immense healing. Thank you for your condolences, prayers, and acts of kindness. May her spirit live on through the cherished memories we hold dear.
