Rancher and farm store specialists John Glaspey passed away on January 18th, 2022, at the age of 75 of natural causes.
John graduated from Thurston High School in 1965. Enjoying subjects like math and FFA while he attended school.
After school, John married four times. But no woman could ever tame "The White Stallion".
Always being a hard worker and enjoying the outdoors, John wasn't afraid to work hard. From a hunting guide in Canada to working for big R stores for many years. Known as " Big R John" to most, he enjoyed sharing his knowledge of ranching with others.
From quarter horses to cattle, John knew it all. With a passion for ranching, he purchased land and retired in Christmas Valley, Oregon. He spent his years there buying, raising, and selling cattle. For John, it was the simple pleasures in life. To him, there was nothing better than a cold beer and a good rodeo to watch.
John is survived by his children Cindy, Lee, Johnny, and Justin. Also, by his grandchildren Dylan, Dymond, Ansley, Lincoln, and Maddox.
The family will have a service at a later time and spread the ashes of the departed.
One More Day
Even with our progress
Some things stay the same.
Cattle still need brandin'.
There are horses still to tame.
Cowboys will always ride.
They'll head, heal, and haze.
Making lasting memories,
These are their "good ol' days."
As the lonesome sun is setting,
On our last sky of blue,
We'll think back on good times and friends
who helped dreams come true.
The only favor I would ask
before I'm called away,
is let me be a cowboy again,
for one more day.
Thank you,
Johnny Glaspey.
