John Bush passed away peacefully on February 26, 2021, in Bend, Oregon, with his family by his side.
John was born April 8, 1937, in Winthrop, Arkansas to Richard and Myrtle (Ward) Bush.
John joined the U.S. Air Force on February 21, 1955, and was discharged honorably from duty on October 17, 1958, and was awarded the good conduct medal.
John married Shirley June Kohl on December 1, 1960, in Lakeview, Oregon, and raised their family there.
John graduated from Blue Mountain Community College with an associate degree in Law Enforcement on December 19, 1973. He was recognized on the Dean’s list for winter term 1972. John served Lake County as a police officer for 32 years. HE was an active member of the LDS church; his favorite song was “Me and Jesus by Tom Hall.
He is preceded by; his parents, three brothers, Virgil, Alfred, and Art, and his son-in-law Darryl Strain.
John is survived by his wife; Shirley; Son, Johnny Bush; Daughters; Helen St.Clair, and Debbie Strain, Sisters; Martha Collins, Myrtle Capehart, and Janette Sloan. John has 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with military honors provided by the US Air Force and the VFW Post 4070, there will be a reception lunch following.
Memorial contributions can be made in John’s memory to the Elks BPOE Lodge 1536 at 3223 North F Street, Lakeview, OR 97630 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
