James Thomas Bauer passed away peacefully at his home on April 6, 2023, in New Pine Creek, Oregon, on the first day of the Passover, at 66 years of age.
James was born to Kenneth and Mary Ellen (Gunderson) Bauer, on August 22, 1956, in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
He was an English Major and loved to read and later went back to school for Graphic Arts. He loved to doodle and was a talented artist. Professionally he worked as an Art Director and Graphic Designer.
In his youth, he enjoyed downhill ski racing, and for all the time, he loved being in nature, hiking through the quiet woods, rock hounding, antiquing for treasures, and weekend trips with his family.
James and Theresa were married in 1987 in Minnesota. They had a wonderful and blessed life together, which was sadly cut short. He was and always will be, "the love of her life." After a couple of years of marriage, God blessed them with their "best gift" ever, a beautiful daughter, Jenna. There are no words to express how much Jenna will miss her "Papa."
First and most important in James' life was the Lord God through His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit that dwelled in him. (Romans 8:9) "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, If so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you." James loved the Lord God with all his heart, soul, and mind. James' coworkers were so saddened at the news, and he received so many kind-hearted words from them.
James was a family man in the true sense of the word. He loved and cared for his family so much and would do anything for them. James made his family feel so loved, safe, and happy at home- a real "home sweet home." At family gatherings, when it was time to sit down for the meal, he would wait until everyone else got their plate to make sure there was enough for everyone. At the end of the meal he would check your plate and say, "Did you get enough to eat, now?" He was a slow eater and would save some on his plate just to make sure everyone was full.
James was a humble and generous man, he would always put the well-being of others above his own. He had no airs about him. He was very intuitive and aware of others' feelings and needs. James was never one to rush ahead in line. He didn't mind being last, and as the Bible says, (Matthew 20:16) "So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called but few chosen."
Here in New Pine Creek, James made an altar to the Lord, and with staff in hand, he would kneel down, pray to God, and "give thanks" for all His wonderful creation. As one of his friends said, "The world will not be the same without James Thomas Bauer in it" and that is so true!
James is survived by his wife Theresa, daughter Jenna and son-in-law James. He is also survived by his sisters, Vicki (Mark) Suggs, Barb (Greg) Wilson, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father Kenneth and mother Mary.
A Graveside service will be held at the New Pine Creek Cemetery on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 1:00 P.M.
