Gordon Edward DeBoy passed away on January 21, 2024, at his home in New Pine Creek, Oregon. He was 87 years old.
Gordon was born on February 22, 1936, to Edward A. and Valda “Happy” (Knoke-Layton) DeBoy in Paisley, Oregon. Later moving to the DeBoy ranch near Plush, Oregon. His family later moved to Lakeview where he started school and graduated from Lakeview High School with the class of 1955.
Gordon married Wilma Holmquist in August of 1955 and they had 3 children, but later divorced.
Gordon’s working years were spent in the retail grocery industry where he spent thirty-five years as a produce procurer and manager for Albertson’s and an independent grocery store in Bend, Oregon.
Gordon met Edna Lee Schulze and they were married in 2004. He enjoyed working in their yard and green house where they raised numerous plants, flowers, and vegetables, that they sold at their roadside stand for many years.
Gordon also became an animal lover thanks to Edna Lee, especially their dogs. Their last dog “Fritz” became one of Gordon’s favorite.
Gordon was a member of the Open Bible church and later when he moved to New Pine Creek, Oregon he attended The First Baptist Church of the Goose Lake valley, he was a member of the Oregon National Guard, and the Oregon Snowmobile Association. Gordon was an avid snowmobiler, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. Gordons most favorite outdoor place was the Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge, where he enjoyed black powder hunting, fishing, or just camping with family and friends.
Gordon wanted his family and friends to enjoy life as he did, Love the land, your family and life as he did. Forget the heartaches, disappointments and trails that come your way, “God Bless you All”.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents C.H. and Lula M DeBoy, half-brother Orval R. Layton and his half-sister Verlie Layton Lee, grandson Ross John Stang, and his nephew Ron Lee.
He is survived by his wife Edna Lee Schulze, his three children, Kay M Silence, Gordon L. (LeeAnn) DeBoy, May S (Tom) Stang, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 7 stepchildren, 20 step grandchildren, 14 step great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Gordon’s life will be held at a later date.
