Glen Martin Obituary

Glen R. Martin, of Lakeview, Oregon, passed away quietly on the 11th of February 2021 in his home, surrounded by family. He was an active member of the Westside community since 1978.

He was born in Yakima, Washington, and attended Gonzaga before graduating from Central Washington College with a degree in Economics. Glen entered the U.S. Air Force in 1958 as a Navigator. He was most proud of being in the spy program during the Cold War and working out of Area 51. He was a Vietnam Veteran and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1978 with his Master’s degree in Counseling. As an avid bird and big game hunter, he came to Lakeview to pursue his dream of starting a hunting club, Big ‘M’ Hunting. He raised pheasants while building goose and duck blinds, frequently helping clients to fill their limits. When they drew big game tags, he capably guided them on successful hunts. Glen was a long-time active member of the Lake County Search and Rescue, proudly holding the position of Commander for several years. He was the key lead in many successful rescues and innovative programs.

With the passing of his wife, Marcie Johnston Martin, Glen found comfort and friendship amongst many members of the Lake County Senior Center. Best known for his boisterous personality and captivating stories, his presence will be missed by many.

Glen is survived by his children; Randall Johnston, James Martin, Therese Litzsey-Adams, Candace Collins, Glen Martin, Jr., and Peter Martin; as well as 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. A private family service will be held at a later date.
