Galvin “Butch” Meyrick Nelson, passed away on April 19, 2024, at the age of 83, in Lakeview, Oregon.
Butch was born in Saint Anthony, Idaho on December 29, 1940, to Alfred and Marjorie (Meyrick) Nelson.
Butch grew up in Idaho until the family moved to Oregon, he lived in Klamath Falls, Adel, and Lakeview until his passing. Butch enlisted in the Airforce in 1961 and served our country as an airman – weapon’s specialist until he was honorably discharged in 1967.
Butch loved the work his dad taught him, they called it “dirt work”. He was a dragline specialist. Digging ditches and ponds for local ranches. He built golf courses throughout Oregon. He also built many roads in Lake County, and all over the state of Oregon. During the 1964 flood Butch and his dad helped keep the road open from Adel to Lakeview with their dragline.
Butch loved getting firewood in Lake County. He enjoyed golfing with family and friends. Butch discovered a love for the Bible, where he learned about his God Jehovah and Gods son Jesus. His favorite scripture was John 3:16, which he loved to share with EVERYONE!
Butch was a very loving man, he loved people, and he will be missed by many.
Butch left behind his loving friend and wife Janyce Cecile Price Nelson, whom he married in 1970. Daughter Danielle, her husband Kevin Wehnau, her daughter Nathalia (Derek) Barnes. Daughter Cristin Nelson, her son Isaiah Deleon Worfield. Butch recently found through a DNA website that he had a daughter in 1964 named Mary Esther, she has 2 daughters, Dominique and Iliana and a son Vincent. A sister Linda Nelson Bleha and his nieces & nephews, Greg nelson, Jama Nelson, Christopher Nelson, Trent Middlebrooks, James Price, Lisa Robinson, Brittany Shaffer, Josh Prom.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Larry Nelson, half-sister Cleo Nelson Gilly, niece Noni Peay Ackerman, and Brother-in-law Al Prom.
A Memorial service will be held for Butch at a later date.
