Emilia Villagrana Obituary

Emilia Villagrana, 83, of Adel, Oregon, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2020, at Lake District Hospital in Lakeview, Oregon, after a short, courageous battle with cancer.

Emilia was born March 4, 1937, in Mezquitic, Jalisco, Mexico to Elias Villagrana & Nicomedes Guzman.  Lived in Adel, Oregon, since 1978.  She married the love of her life, Lorenzo Villagrana Bonilla, on March 6, 1954, in Mexico.

Emilia was preceded in death by Her parents:  Elias & Nicomedes; Her husband, Lorenzo, her firstborn child, and Daughter, Mary Villagrana.

Emilia is survived by Daughter & son-in-law, Rosa & Jesus Villagrana of Silver Lake; son and daughter-in-law, Ramiro & Marisela Villagrana of Brewster WA; son, Francisco Villagrana of Lakeview; son and daughter-in-law, Lorenzo Raul & Marisol Villagrana of Lakeview; daughter and partner in life, Blanca & Ken Van Hoesen of Lakeview; son, Roman Villagrana of Ukiah, CA; daughter and son-in-law, Raquel & Joseph Gallagher of North Carolina;  19 grandchildren (one on the way!) and 27  great-grandchildren (one on the way!)   Many sisters and brothers (whom looked up to her and adored her), sisters & brothers-in-law, as well as many Nieces and Nephews.

Emilia, was a dedicated wife and mother, first and foremost.  She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them.  Although there may have been struggles in life, she always made sure they were well dressed and fed.  She was a great seamstress and sewed their clothes with love (no patterns!).  Her hands were rarely still.  She tried to teach her sewing skills.  She also shared her love of cooking, not only with her children but also with her grandchildren.  She thoroughly enjoyed her role as Anma, Grandma, or whatever her grandchildren wanted to call her.  She loved people and always had a welcoming heart and a smile.  She loved being a part of the Catholic Church and always reminded us all to “have faith” in all paths of our life.  The life skills she imparted, will help us move on in life.  She left her children and grandchildren a legacy of love and respect and it will be our duty and honor to pass it on to her great-grandchildren, as she did, also to all we meet.  She was described as having a sweet disposition and made a room light up with her smile.  Our beautiful Mother will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Funeral mass was December 5th, 2020 at St. Richard’s Catholic Church, in Adel, Oregon.
