Duane Eldon Hodges, 88 passed away peacefully in Lakeview on Thursday, December 3, 2020.
Duane was born to Alfred and Tillie (Havel) Hodges on September 14, 1932, in Madison, Nebraska.
He came west in 1940 to Willow Ranch where his parents worked. He graduated in 1952 from Lakeview High School. After graduating he joined the Navy, where he honorably served during the Korean War.
While in the Navy, Duane met Viola Maye Johnston at a dance in Washington. They were married in 1954 and remained married until Vi’s passing in 2008. Duane worked as a building contractor and farmer in Bend, Oregon, until his retirement in 1992. After retiring he and Vi moved back to Lakeview.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Vi.
He was survived by her Daughter and Son-n-law; Diane and Jack Hodnett of Drewsey, OR, Son and Daughter-in-law; Joseph and Debbie Hodgesof Kailua-Kona, HI, Grandsons; Brian Hodnett of Lakeview, OR Travis Hodnett of Drewsey, OR, Nathan Hodges of Dallas, TX, Granddaughters; Kimberly Sorrentino of Brookings, OR, Great Granddaughters; Kandi Stowe and Jeweliette Sorrentino of Brookings, OR, Great Grandsons; Jackson Hodnett and Wyatt Hodges.
At the request of Duane, there will be only a private family gathering to be held at a later date.
