Donald Stacey Obituary

Donald Earl Stacey, a wonderful husband and protective father, lived his life on the road.  He loved to travel, never wanting to be confined to one place for too long.  On April 4th, 2022, Don's travels in this world came to an end.

Don's journey started on October 22, 1944, born at home in Forest Hill, Idaho to his mother, Patricia (Maul), and delivered by his father, William Stacey.  He was the second child of seven and would go on to become the father of seven himself, the grandfather to twelve, and the great-grandfather to one (so far).

Animals and small children are often instinctually drawn to good people, and they were always comfortable with Don.  He loved nature, and though he held many jobs throughout his life, he was most at home in the woods, working in various parts of the lumber industry.

Not all of Don's journeys were easy or gentle.  Don volunteered to serve two tours in Vietnam.  Like many that have served, Don bore the weight of his service, both physically and emotionally.  In spite of whatever pains it may have caused him, he was always proud of his time in the Army.  His pride of service affected his children, leading to most of them following in his footsteps to serve their country.

It is difficult to capture all of Don's life in a few sentences, for two reasons.  First, he lived a full life filled with adventure and stories too varied and long to easily summarize.  Second, he didn't like to draw all of the attention to himself.  He was a private person that quietly touched the lives of many.

Don is preceded by two brothers and a daughter.

He is survived by his wife Susan and six of their children.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Don at a later date. Don loved being in the outdoors so the family will wait until they can celebrate his life outside.
