Donald Moss Obituary

Donald L. Moss was born on March 24, 1936, in Lakeview, Oregon to Peter and Addie Moss. Don passed away on October 9, 2023, in Lakeview, Oregon.

Don met the love of his life, Lois Cossey Moss, while at a dance and they were married on February 23, 1957. They raised their two children, Cathy and Diana, in Lakeview. Don worked for Freemont Sawmill for 20 years until he retired. A few years later he bought the Coca-Cola distributing plant in 1978 and ran it until 1995. Once he finally retired from the Coca-Cola plant he spent his time with family and friends doing the things he loved the most. Throughout his years within Lakeview, he touched many lives and affected many people.

Don loved sports whether he was playing, coaching, or just watching. He spent his high school years playing football, basketball, and track. He later began coaching sports such as Little League. He made sure that he never missed a game of any of his children or grandchildren, even traveling out of town in order to support the ones that he loved. His loved ones always knew that if they looked up into the crowd, he would be there cheering them on.

Don was an avid outdoorsman and loved anything to do with nature. He spent most of his summers out at Drews Reservoir- fishing, water skiing, and teaching all the local kids how to do the same, or out on the golf course with his wife and friends. When fall rolled around you could find him out hunting with his friends and family. In his later years, he would spend his time gardening and going trapping with his grandsons, along with all the other things he did before. He never stopped doing what he loved and teaching the people around him how to enjoy all the things he did.

Don, better known as “Pa”, loved his family more than life itself and would have done anything to ensure they had everything they needed. He was always the happiest when surrounded by family, it didn’t seem to matter what they were doing, whether it be sitting around the house or out in nature. He was one of a kind, a “larger than life” kind of man that no one will ever forget. He will be missed dearly by many.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Addie Moss, and his sisters, Phyliss Johnston, and Dolores Padget.

Donald is survived by his wife- Lois Moss, daughter Cathy Proctor and husband Rondo Proctor, daughter Diana Silcocks and husband Mark Silcocks, grandson Jason Johnson and wife Melissa Johnson, grandson Brandon Johnson and wife Amanda Johnson, grandson Chase Silcocks and Katie Williams, great-grandson Jordan Ackerman, great-grandson Hunter Parks, great-granddaughter Lexis Johnson, great-grandson Moss Johnson, great-granddaughter Annie Johnson, brother-in-law Roy Padget, and multiple nieces and nephews.
