Delora "Collette" Broadfoot

Delora “Collette” Broadfoot, a beloved member of the community, passed away on June 8th, 2023, in the home of a family friend in Newberg, Oregon.

Delora Collette was born on June 23, 1936, to Truman and Violet (Dahlstrom) McGinnis in California, Collette spent her childhood growing up in California.

After marrying Dwayne "Foot" Broadfoot, she remained in California, where she worked for many years at the water company, raising her children and crafting in her spare time. She was a loving wife to Dwayne Broadfoot (deceased) and mother to her two children, Sandra and Jim Detrick. Collette was also a stepmother to Connie Lasher and Robin Chamberlain(deceased), and Michael Broadfoot (deceased) in addition to being a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. 

Upon retirement, Collette and Foot decided to relocate to the small town of Paisley, Oregon, where they could enjoy the peace and quiet of rural life. Collette opened a yarn shop in the town and quickly became known throughout the community for her beautiful knitting and crocheting projects. She also took on many students and taught them the art of crafting, resulting in lots of blue ribbons and many proud parents.

Collette was heavily involved in the community throughout her life. She ran the ballot boxes during election periods and volunteered at local events and fairs. She was also an active member of her church and frequently helped out with its programs and fundraisers.

She enjoyed spending time in nature with Foot, going fishing at Master Springs or Anna Reservoir, and playing with their pets. Collette and Foot provided a loving home to many dogs and cats throughout their lives.

Following Foot's passing in 2016, Collette remained an active member of the community, continuing to volunteer and helping at her church and with her neighbors. Her kindness and compassion will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the countless individuals whose lives she touched throughout her life.

Collette Broadfoot left behind a lasting legacy of warmth, creativity, and love. She will always be remembered for her generous spirit and her dedication to her passions and community.

Her celebration of life will be held at the Paisley Community Center on July 8, 2023, at 2 PM in the afternoon, with a potluck to follow.
