Darla attended elementary school at Willow Ranch, CA, Bly, OR, and AD Hay in Lakeview. She attended Lakeview Jr. and Senior High School. While in High School, Darla was involved in many activities. She was a member of the LHS Band, playing the Oboe, Bassoon, and clarinet. She was a member of Job’s Daughters and served as Honored Queen. She was also a member of the Thespians, a group that put on a lot of amusing plays for the community.   After graduating from LHS in 1974, Darla attended and received a degree from Medford School of Business. She then worked for First Interstate Bank for 12 years, in Lakeview and Wilsonville, OR. She earned her CNA and was an in-home health care provider. When she moved back to Lakeview, she worked for Lake District Hospital, Favell Utley Corp., Lakeview Lodge Motel, and provided in-home care for her aunt.

Darla was a member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints since her baptism in 1973. Darla married Philip John Dorn on September 30, 1989.  She was a member of the Relief Society, Lady Elks Auxiliary Card players, and Secretary/Singer of the Sage Brush Echo’s. She participated in the Annual Christmas Cantata since 1990.

Darla was so full of life and had a contagious laugh.   She enjoyed putting puzzles together and making personalized gifts (such as Christmas stockings for numerous members of the family using her knitting and crocheting skills) and she was always up for a game night or a card party. Darla taught interested people to play pinochle… It was her favorite!!
