Carol Ann (Christy) Hogue

Carol was born to Austin and Ada Christy on July 6, 1935, in Burlington, Iowa.  She lived in Tarrant County, Texas for a period of time, and in Carol’s teenage years, she moved with her family to Fresno, California, where she later met the love of her life.  

Carol met Andy Preston Hogue Sr. while he was working for her father,  Austin Christy, on their family horse ranch during their high school years. Carol and Andy married on November 22, 1952, and were married for 70 years.  In November 1953 they had their first son, Andy, and in 1956 their second son, Robert. 

Carol was a strong-willed, family-driven, kind woman who was loved by many within her community.  She loved to crochet, which she taught herself how to do from a book while in Alaska. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, friend, and neighbor.  Carol had a welcoming heart and enjoyed taking care of others.  Carol worked briefly as a bookkeeper, but spent most of her life as a homemaker, ensuring those she loved were well-taken care of.  Anytime someone came over, she would insist on providing a cold drink, a warm meal, and good conversation.  She was an incredible cook, and her secret ingredient was “love”. 

She will always be missed and loved by her family…. She was loved by so many. 
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Ada Christy, husband Andy Hogue, sister Donna Spraggins, brother Jim Christy, and grandson Robert Mason Hogue.  

She is survived by: her sons and daughters-in-law, Andy and Cheryl, and Robert and Donna; sister, Margie Hutchings; brother, Austin Christy; grandchildren, Josh, Austin, Amanda, and Shannon; great-grandchildren Caiden, Kaitlin, Mason, Rylan, Addisyn, Rylee, and Natalie; and many nephews and nieces. 

Carol earned her angel wings on June 1, 2023, in Lakeview, Oregon. Carol Ann Hogue, you were the sunshine to so many. You will be missed. 

A celebration of life will be held for Carol at the Westside Cemetery, on Monday, July 10, 2023, at 11:00 A.M.
