Betty Lee (Kinyon) Harris

September 20, 1926 ~ March 24, 2022 (age 95)

Obituary

Betty Lee Harris of Powell Butte died Thursday, March 25, 2022.  She was 96 years old.  Her daughter and son-in-law Marie and Steve Christoffersen along with son Paul Harris and her most caring caretaker Chaleena Besel, were present when she passed into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ.

Betty Lee (Kinyon) Harris was born in McCloud Calif. to Ivan R and Dott Kinyon on September 21, 1926.  She married Gordon D Harris on July 9, 1945, in Alturas, Calif.

Betty was a Baptist Pastor’s wife, a Homemaker, and an Institutional cook.  As a pastor’s wife and Sunday School teacher, she will be remembered by many from small Baptist Churches ranging from Northern California to North Pole Alaska.  As an Institutional Cook school children and campers benefited and enjoyed her ability to make institutional food taste good from Lathrup High School in Fairbanks Alaska to Crystal Springs Church camp in the Ochoco and the Tamarack Girls camp.  As a Homemaker of course she will be loved and remembered by her children and a multitude of others who ate at her table and slept in her house for being able to feed anyone that showed up at mealtime.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; Ivan and Dott, husband; Gordon

Survivors include her five children, Ted Harris of Houston Tx, Marie Christoffersen of Powell Butte OR, Paul Harris of North Pole Alaska, Neil Harris of Walnut, Kansas, and Anna Lee Mastrud of Kenia Alaska: 28 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great children.

A graveside service will be held at the Willow Ranch Calif. Cemetery on March 28th at 2 pm.  A celebration of life and memorial is tentatively planned for May 20th, 2022, at 2 pm, in Powell Butte, OR.
